The Mother Church of the Immaculate Conception (Chiesa Matrice dell’Immacolata) is Castelsilano's main religious building, built between the late 17th and early 18th centuries by the feudal Rota family, founders of the ancient hamlet of Casino. Located in the central square, it features a simple façade enriched with symbolic elements, and an interior that preserves works of art, furnishings, and testimonies to the town's strong Marian devotion. It is a historical and identifying landmark for the community, also linked to the figure of the Venerable Maria Eufrasia Iaconis.

Interesting Facts

The community maintains a special relationship with Argentina thanks to the figure of Venerable Maria Eufrasia Iaconis, originally from Castelsilano and venerated in Italian communities overseas.

The statue of the Immaculate Conception was enriched in 2017 with a gilded silver star-shaped plaque made from melted local votive offerings and blessed by Pope Francis.
